She Can Tri is using triathlon as a vehicle for social change in Afghanistan as we train the country's first women triathletes; these women are trailblazers and leaders who have their sights on representing their country in the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. Afghan girls need to see women represented in public spaces, from civil society to the media, to politicians, to business owners. Plain and simple Afghanistan does not have enough female role models, the country does not have enough visible female leaders, and there are not enough women in power. Young women need to be able to look up and see someone that looks like them preparing them for the future. Where better to do that than in sports? Mounting evidence shows that playing sports can transfer into your professional career.
