Aquaponics and Internet of Things (IoT)

About Solution

We wish to introduce to you Smart Farming System with IoT-FMS (Farm Management System) capability that is,

Hi-density - smart farming to sustainably produce food-particularly fish and green veggies, herbs, feeds, that is truly organic, fresh, nutritious, clean and healthy. (Hi Density – makes this ideal for urban areas – where cost of land/property is a premium. That means, we can pack more veggies / fish in the same area compared to the conventional farming, because nutrients are directly fed to the plants.

All natural without the use of soil, chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, insecticide, tilling, watering, that can be undertaken by a family, cooperative or community.

Aquaponics, solution is compact, modular and scalable, for fast growing population in urban areas, where space is getting to be limited. Hi-density food production makes this a viable solution, can be done on vertical walls, roof decks or indoor.

Self-sustaining, such that, plants-herbs, veggies, that are produced can also be used as feeds for fish and animals. The waste from the fish is transformed to its organic form as liquid fertilizer to the plants. Fish can be bred and grown (incubator) from the hatchery, the cycle of life continues, on and on using the same process. When producing food closer to the consumers provides better access, lower cost and advantageous to the environment.

Leveraging on existing and advances in technologies – we can design, operate and manage the installation productively, that will allow cost efficient solution for fish and veggie production. Aquaponics becomes more feasible when combined with renewable energies such as wind, solar, bio-gas, evaporative cooling (hot areas) to operate pumps/blowers to achieve aeration, circulation and filtration efficiently.

Integrating IoT-(FMS), Internet of Things (Farm Management System) The Aquaponics system can be provided with monitoring and controlling instruments, automated thus can be implemented and adapted anywhere in the world with internet access, thus support to local producers can be given remotely once connected.

Urban farming
like aquaponics/hydroponics/aeroponics whether on commercial or industrial scale, has a payback period of 2 to 3 years depending on volume of production and capital invested. Moreover, the country, city or region, interest rates, cost of living, can affect the time frame of the feasibility as well.
