the slow degrading waste is a major issue in the municipalities in Sri Lanka, the general method is composting and landfilling where the process is very costly and takes a heavy transportationtoll, on the other handthe specific area in focus Kaduwela ( KMC) has a considerable number of industries which use bio mass as fuel for their Boilers and facing a difficulty in finding biomass, the proposed solution is to manage the waste collection process in the KMC area and obtain slow degrading biomass,process them in a manner that issuitable for feeding industrial boilers and sell to the industries in the KMC area. the process will be managed through a PPP approach, thereby reducing the cost of waste management for KMC and enabling industries to obtain biomass at a lower cost. the overall approach will reduce the transportation requirement from both ends enabling significant cost reduction and GHG emission reduction.
