This solution will seek to support the community in Kapeeka sub county community to plant macadamia on their farms. The organization will support the farmers with the seedling and the farm implements in order that the farmers will plant the trees on their farms,
support the farmers to plant macadamia will not only help reafforestation and climate change but it will also contribute to the income of the community through sale of the nut.
This tree will not easily be cut due to the usefulness of the tree to the farmer.
The economic status of Kapeeka community is characterized by low income due to lack of income generating activities, the community can hardly earn $1 dollar a day, this has kept the community in the state of poverty that some families are not able to support their families with basic human needs especially with the school fees of their children and health.
The major economic activity of the place is agriculture but this agriculture is governed by the chaning climate due to the fact that trees were cut down as the community wanted to plant rice and cut trees for charcoal making for income.
The fact that trees were cut down, rain is in scarce in the area so the farmers realize little from the produce due to the drought now in the area. the forests which contributed to the rain fall now is no more, so the frustrating seasons cased by lack of trees has affected the agricultural production in the area.
this trend can only be changed by planting back the trees which cannot easily be cut down, the selected tree is macadamia, a nut tree which can contribute to the economic income of the farmers, in the long run. this tree will also be planted with other friut tres such as mangoes, oranges, jack fruits , avocado , oranges and other trees which will contribute to theiur income. because of their economic and nutrition support they will not easily be cut down so it will contribute to the climate resilience of the place.
