Ecogenic Solutions

About Solution

Food wastes have contributed to serious environmental degradation that every minute, a new born baby dies from infection caused by the lack of safe water and polluted environment (WHO, 2015). United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) reports that Nigeria has the highest burden of air pollution in Africa and the 4th globally, killing 150 people per 100,000 Nigerians. 90 percent of Nigerians consume chemically based household cleaning solutions which according to The National Institute of Occupational Safety, one third of substances used in fragrance industry are toxic and cause various health hazards from acute like skin/respiratory to long term effects such as cancer in individuals. Everyday, of every 300 children under the ages of 6 treated, 2 die as a result of poisonings caused from swallowing these cleaners stored or left open inside the home. This is why the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) recommends, keeping these toxic products such as cleaning solutions in their original packaging, out of sight and reach of children. But For How Long ?

Our solution involves promoting healthy living, curbing food wastage and supporting a conducive garbage free environment by producing eco-friendly, non toxic and 100% safe domestic cleaning solutions from recycled fruit and vegetable waste products therefore serving as better alternatives to chemically based domestic cleaning solutions.

We want to solve the high rate of environmental pollution caused by food waste and also the dependence of individuals on the usage of chemically based domestic cleaning solutions by recycling these food waste into products with positive contribution to the daily life of man and his environment and also deriving eco-friendly products that are inexpensive and would serve as better and safer alternatives to all chemically based domestic cleaning solutions known to cause various health hazards from acute or immediate hazards like skin/respiratory irritation, watery eyes to long term effects such as cancer in individuals using them.

We work with fruit and vegetable sellers around who exchange their spoils in exchange for valuables providing 47 indirect jobs and recycled over 700KG of wastes.
