Establishment of Food Processing Centers in Bamenda and Limbe

About Solution

The project we aim at, consist of delivering agro-processing equipment that will ease food processing, transformation and handling in the headquarters of North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. This project will have to solve the problem of; perishability and wastage in post-harvesting; subsistence farming will be upgraded to intensive farming for more profitability; and it will deal with the issue of idleness and joblessness that is rampant in our communities especially the internally displaced persons as a result of the crises in the two English speaking Regions of Cameroon. The equipment we want to deliver are; motorize cassava grater, manual cassava press, cassava mill (for cassava paste), Corn mill, corn thresher, groundnut mill, groundnut press, groundnut thresher, pepper mill, frying platform (for gari) oil mill, kennel cracker.

This equipment will be hosted in a secured warehouse and will be run by a cooperative that will be created to operate the factory. Local farmers will have to process all their food products through this factory in exchange of a very minimal token (pre-established) that will be used to assure perpetual availability of fuel for the equipment. We expect this project to make the local farmers and internally displaced financially and nutritionally self-reliant. The project will increase the purchase power of the local farmers and IDPs because their productivity will be increased and ameliorated; and will also encourage many people to go into farming. The OSH-related problems to processing will be decreased.

For our project monitoring, we have the following indicators:

The economic power of each famer and internally displaced involved in the activities

Number of farmers processing their food with alternative methods

Number of times fuel got finished and was refilled without hindering farmers from processing/transforming
