About Solution

Rural areas are exposed to extreme poverty, food insecurity and inability to access open trade and market which can lead to economic growth and poverty reduction.

In order to fully harness the potential of trade to advance the livelihood of 1 billion of people who still live off $1.25 per day, a model of setting up an intermediary centre called Food Interlink Centre will be suggested.

The Food Interlink Centre is just an intermediary between the rural farmers and the international market and a common facility centre which will only collect commission based on service rendered.

This Food Interlink Centre will be located in the rural areas with the best state of art technology to ease trade and provide some but not limited to the following functions; farmers profiling in the rural areas to show genuineness and credibility to the buyers, provision of integrated supply chain, provision of infrastructures and storage facilities, value addition to produce, data management for demand and supply, educate and network farmers into cooperative, soliciting for international funds, create partnership and collaboration with national and international investors, provide proper documentation and sales into international market. et. Cetera.

The Food Interlink Centre will use all available media like radio, television, rural leaders and other means to reach the farmers sensitizing them of immense benefit of selling their goods to the international market.

This will be achieved through flow of information between the rural farmers and the food interlink centre via the internet for farmers that are educated and the uneducated ones can send free SMS or call toll free number to inform the Food interlink centre of the farm produce to be sold and the centre will mobilise their personnel for inspection to determine the specifications and other important information that can aid trade facilitation.

More so, adequate storage will be provided at low cost in case there is delay in getting market for the produce.

This model will give opportunities for rural farmers to access international market, improve their communities to move across skills, industries and facilitate easy integration with the global economy.
