We are proposing the development of a world data pool accessible 24/7 through a mobile phone application. We are aiming to design a world-wide vast list of resources with the mindset that when immigrants move, they will be able to access the resource data wherever they move. The one-stop center for immigrants’ needs will facilitate refugees, asylum seekers and voluntary immigrants with essential information on how and where to access the benefits and the help they need when they arrive or stay in their host country.
FILLING A NEED:
There is no other project serving the Immigrant community with a data pool like the one we intend to create.Unlike the state-based available organizations, where the user needs to call or walk-in during work hours to access theinformation they desire, our platform provides this information 24/7 through the mobile phone application.
This platform will also create access to legal advice available 24/7 through an immigration discussion platform for immigrants to ask questions about the immigration legal process, and social services coping strategies. The legal questions will only be seen by a pool of participating lawyers on our platform, while questions about social services should be seen by several nonprofit organizations serving such categories.
Maneuvering through the immigration systems is a complicated and long process. Asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrants need to jump through a number of legal hoops to ensure they maintain their legal status here in the different host countries and to gain access to educational and economic opportunities. Our goal is to build a culturally responsive app and online platform that builds confidence and knowledge within families and individuals that are undergoing resettlement and adjustment in the around the world. We hope to connect them to services, organizations, and leaders providing a spectrum of quality support services to help new arrivals settle successfully in their new homes.
