I came up with a solution which allows to lead economic development to a better environmental protection and sustainable growth. It is a carpooling platform which allows travelers to share a ride to a common destination and can include several forms of sharing a ride, such as casual carpooling and real-time carpooling. Because carpooling reduces the number of automobiles needed by travelers, it is often associated with numerous societal benefits including reductions of energy consumption, emissions and traffic congestion mitigation.
The money saved from reduced fuel usage is also one of the best reasons to carpool. Depending on the size of carpool and distance of commute, one can save hundreds or thousands of dollars every year. But carpooling doesn’t just benefit to the wallet, it positively affects environment and the traffic.
In addition to the money saved by using less gas, there is a potential like in some cities to initiate programs that reward carpoolers. For example, The Clean Air Campaign in Georgia, motivates carpooling with money and prizes.
Reduce traffic congestion – The benefits of carpooling on a large scale are huge. Every carpooling participant takes another car off the road, which means less congested roads. As more people take part in carpooling programs, overall traffic congestion will decrease, which reduces fuel consumption, commute time, and the cost of road repairs.
And of course, reducing carbon footprint – According to rideshare.com, every car annually emits its own weight in carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Carpooling reduces that amount significantly. If you carpool to a different city, you can cut your transportation emissions number in half, or even more.
