The most significant achievement I attained as a change was the women's economic empowerment initiative which I started to help disadvantaged pastoral women of Afar state declare their economic self-sufficiency. Through this initiative, six project proposals were drafted to target applicable economic activities and women-friendly businesses that can be easily implemented with a small amount of start-up capital. As a result, a total of 200 young women of six selected districts have been able to engage in small businesses. This is initiative is very important to me due to its practical impact in changing the livelihood of pastoral women. Acquiring start-up capital to help fund the projects was the main obstacle faced and it was overcome by the pitching of project ideas to funder organizations.
