Moringa organic agroforestry partnership is our project that involve local farmer to plant Moringa Oleifera tree and organic food/horticultural crop in a same land. We collect the moringa leaves production from the farmer `partner and buy it with a high price. Besides that we also collect organic food production from the farmer which is planted in a same land with moringa trees. It will be better program because it consists of three main component of sustainability, they are economic, social, and environment.
We choose Moringa plant because this plant can save more carbon storage compared to the perennial commodity. Besides that, this plant also has very high economic benefit for the farmer because this leaf contains very high nutrition inside. This plant is also considered as superfood or miracle plant by FAO. So this leaf has a high price that can increase farmers’ income.
Besides the nutritious food like moringa leaves, we also need the other food or horticultural commodity for food ingredients and seasoning such as rice, onion, chili, tomato, etc. So, we have to plant other crop beside the Moringa plant in agroforestry system. We choose organic system because it can use the resource from organic waste and don’t need any synthetic fertilizer. So it will reduce organic and food waste because there are so many unused organic wastes produced every day in the world. The organic system also has a healthier product that can make better health for every human being
It can be a solution to restore a better climate and environment. This program can be alternative choice instead of reforestation. Reforestation is very important to restore better climate and environment. But, the farmer and the society don’t want to plant trees for better environment because they will not get any economic benefit from it. So we choose moringa tree to be planted extensively to restore climate change and increase farmer and society income. According to farmprogress.com, the most profitable farm made$275per acre. But with moringa cultivation, the farmer can get an income about $666 per month or about $8000 per annum with land no more than 0.5 acre. Besides that, it can be implemented in many areas because this tree can adapt in some extreme climate condition.
