Forestry & Citrus Research (FACIR) is a research and production company focusing on poverty alleviation in Zimbabwean communities through research on fruit tree production, conservation and exploitation of natural resources for the benefit of the communities. FACIR has taken a step further by specializing in guava production at a competitive international level focusing on different products which include whole fruits, guava squash, jam and wine. The attached document shows support for the project feasibility study from experienced support team for the Guava Production Program.

Rural and urban communities are facing challenges in sustaining their nutrition. Despite availability of other fruits such as mangoes, peaches and oranges, the potential and benefits of guava have not been fully exploited. FACIR therefore steps to sustain human lives through plantation layouts in communities and teaching on health and medicinal benefits of guavas. The red guava variety has proven to be hardy and productive under extreme environmental, climatic and soil conditions. However, its potential have not been promoted. FACIR dedicate research in improving adaptation and sustainable production of forestry and fruit production across Zimbabwe.

Farmers are going to be contracted to grow guava fruits and a 100hectare of land is targeted in the year 2020. The established guava value chain will address nutrition issues by ensuring availability of various guava products. Products like guava tea and from the guava leaves, puree, jam and wine will be available for public consumption.
