Robust Diners Cafe: A Cafe-gym combo:

About Solution

Food is in a good place— it's fresh, tasty and we're able to produce as much as we need. But as population grows and climate change decreases water and land that's available for farming, we may need to work more efficiently. Fast foods have taken over. Supersize meals with cheap costs predominate the diet of humans. Such high calorie, low nutrient meals can be easily delivered via call or online ordering. Moreover, limited recreational space/green space availability for physical activity causes humans to lead a relaxed, sedentary lifestyle resulting in obesity.

Obesity has escalated the level of epidemic proportions as per the World Health Organization, with an estimated number of 1.4 billion worldwide overweight people and around 300 million people clinically obese. Obesity and overweight are risk factors for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, being chief contributors to premature deaths. In fact, obesity rate in UAE is double the world average. UAE’S Populace since 2014 has been 9.5 million where more than 2.1 billion people (30%) are obese.

Hence, I came up with “Robust Diners Cafe” prototype project: This project is basically divided into three parts:

One is a café serving healthy food, prepared according to the nutritional needs of individual via nutritionists.

Secondly, the café would have menu based on new, innovative and healthy food products (vegan shrimps, plant-based burgers etc.) to overcome the prevalence of obesity and obesity-linked chronic diseases. Moreover, the café would also rely on environment-friendly and sustainable ways of food packaging to reduce the carbon footprint on earth, as recycling is not always the answer(e.g. edible water, straws, cups and spoons and seaweed packaging).

A Philanthropic cafe – wealthy customers can be a given a choice of paying extra tip as a charitable work, to help low-income people eat for free.

Thirdly, there would be green-gyms for people who wish to pay for food via workout, depending on the calories they lose. The gym could be used to harness the energy of its users to generate electricity, which would be used for building's electricity supply.

This café would solve many global problems: minimizing food wastage, saving electricity, eradicating obesity, being philanthropic, reducing greenhouse gases and being an overall environmentally sustainable café.

Thus, like this, we would be capable of creating innovative, healthy and sustainable food solutions for future generations.
