SeaFeed

About Solution

SeaFeed is working towards commercializing an emerging science which indicates that a certain species of seaweed, when added to cattle feed, can eliminate the majority (>90%) of enteric methane emissions from ruminant animals.

As you may know, enteric emissions from the world's 1.5b cows contribute roughly half of all agricultural emissions, which are themselves around 10% of all global emissions. Our goal is to help propel the new, "low-carbon food” movement, and help to eliminate these sorts of emissions before reaching the IPCC's 2°C tipping point in the next two decades.

To avert the catastrophic impact of climate change, humanity must quickly transition to carbon-neutral forms of consumption. While the past 15 years have seen increasing focus on the energy and transportation industries' contribution to climate change, all anthropogenic sources of greenhouse gas emissions must be addressed and reduced. The Global population is expected to reach 8 Billion people by 2030. Should the expansion of developing nations continue to lift the impoverished and broaden the middle class, a world of austerity in beef and dairy is unthinkable. Our only viable future is one equipped with the sustainable production of both flora and fauna, demanding agricultural practices that achieve carbon neutrality.
