Municipal waste is compressed using locally available technology to produce pellets of briquets that are used to provide fuel for cooking food. This will reduce the use of charcoal for cooking. Reduced use of charcoal means reduced deforestation.
The municipal waste can be changed to organic manure through windrowing. The fertilisers can be used in nursery beds as manures for growing the seedlings. The seedlings shall be sold and planted within the community to increase greening of the community. The trees will absorb the carbon-dioxide which is a green house gas causing global warming.
Using digesters, the biodegradable waste can be used to generate methane under anaerobic condition. The methane shall be used for cooking and lighting
