Sustainable and Healthy Food for All

About Solution

Growing food throughout the year can increase food production for export to many countries. In Uganda, we have two seasons, the dry and wet season; I suggest to grow food even during the dry season. This will call for more mechanized and modernized types of machinery to carry out agriculture activities.

Focussing on organic food to eliminate catastrophic illnesses to the world's population. One of the main problems African crops are facing is the competition from developed countries' genetically improved crops because of their shorter periods. We have pesticides that are environmentally friendly and cannot cause harm to human health. An enthusiastic African youth who loves farming like me would love to invest much of his time spraying his gardens with such pesticides, I would love to spend much of my time watering my crops because some child in Yemen, needs food.

We have virgin lands that when utilized well can feed the rest of the world, I would mobilize my fellow youth to at least grow every single acre of land around our communities with different types of crops.

Swamps and wetlands around us can be used to grow in sugar cane, this will support the sweet related industries around the world.

In the middle East, people are in love with sheep, I would mobilize my peers to make up farming groups so as to gazette pieces of dry land to keep sheep and goats.

I intend to introduce beekeeping projects in every grazing land in our farms, this is because the apiary is also one of the ventures that we can tap in to make more money to subsidize crop growing. This, therefore, calls for a modern way of operations, modern beehives, more farming space, more water source to be created for the bees and other features like fresh flowers around the farm and also security issues.

African poultry are disease resistant and delicious, the youth can make structures from natural bamboos found in most of the hills that surround our parishes. These will increase poultry production for export and feeding the rest of the world.

Fish farming can also be done in the nearby wetlands, in my farming groups organized at all parishes, we would also set up a fish pond at every parish to also supply nearby markets with fresh fish.

By doing all the above measures, food would be a guarantee fo the rest of the world without casung death.
