About Solution

The usage of plastic bags is unbearable in Afghanistan only the capitalKabul uses 7 tons of plastic daily. According to The Environment Protection Agency (2018), only the capital Kabul uses4 tons of plastic bagsand3 tons of disposable plates and water bottlesevery day.

The country has been in war and conflict for over four decades now which has made peace and security a top priority for both the government and its people while it has totallyshaded off the environmental issues such as the excessive usage of plastic bags, using drinking water for other purposes which has drastically affected the water table and resulting in boreholes dry-out in various places, no plantationand so on, which is why neither the government nor the people are so serious about it.

My goal (solution) is to replace the plastic bags withpaper pages and non-woven (reusable) bagsandreduce the plastic usage by 50% across the country by 2030. At least a hundred thousand paper and non-woven bags of different varieties – based on the demand of clients/shopkeepers/shopping malls/grocery retailers/pharmacies/bakeries/burger shops and so on
will be produced and distributed daily in Kabul and across the country which will significantly decrease the amount of plastic usage in the country and will improve our environment.
