waste reduction

About Solution

Africa generates a huge amount of plastics every day. Plastic Waste in different forms is found to be almost 9% to 12% in municipal solid waste, which is toxic in nature. It is a common sight in both urban and rural areas to find empty plastic bags and other types of plastic packing material littering the roads as well as drains. Due to poor biodegradability, it creates stagnation of water and associated hygiene problems. We need to use better advance techniques and methods to dispose of plastic waste properly; otherwise, the time is not too far away from where we see it as a big challenge for us to dispose of it.

In Africa, we use incinerators to dispose of the plastic waste in which plastic waste burns at high temperatures. The gases which evolve during this burning process pollute air and water. Due to this, a large number of people get affected and suffer from many harmful diseases.

Researchers suggest that if the plastic isn’t disposed of soon, it can sustain for 4500 years without degradation. Plastic can be reused in various sectors like marketing, manufacturing, transportation, etc.

In the construction sector, we can use plastic waste on a very large scale after recycling it, which means the problem of plastic waste can be removed for a long time period. It seems to be a more practical and efficient method to solve this problem. In terms of civil engineering application, recycling of plastic waste as cementitious based materials, such as cement mixtures or concrete mixture appears as a better option for alternative plastic waste disposal

This is due to its economic

and ecological advantages which can substitute or replace a certain portion of cement in the concrete mix in the tiles manufacturing process.

The Project will conceptually relate to the proper application of waste Plastic for construction tiles manufacturing, which includes waste plastic conversion. Whereas the major thrust of this project is converting waste Plastic into a useful product and protects our environment, the proposed Project will focus on income-generating activities through community-based and specifically addresses income generation and direct the intervention of beneficiaries to reduce poverty and provide service to areas that are not accessible.
