A NEW ERA FOR AFRICA

About Solution

EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS.

This phrase has been used countlessly by many men and women considered to be wise. It has been the basis of everyone who has the aspiration to get success in life.

*IS THIS KEY ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE?*

Education, being the key to the door of success, has had its limitations. To get this key, finances are required and this is where refugees and displaced people face danger. These people have been displaced from their homes and are no longer in position to provide for themselves basic needs. Think about it,"if a man is not in the position to provide basic needs, how will he be in a position to access Education?". This question helps us to realise how refugees are in danger of not being able to access education.

Despite the "free, compulsory education for every child" in Kenya, some of this displaced people are not able to take their children to school. Others are only able to enroll the children but they Later find it hard to maintain the children at school. This occurs due to the various expenses incurred in buying of school materials and the tuition fee which is made compulsory in the schools despite the ban by Government.

Therefore, it can be concluded that the Key to success (education), has not been made accessible to everyone, especially the displaced people.

HOW DO WE MAKE "THE KEY" ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE?

1)Create awareness about the importance of education to refugees.

Refugees need to be told the advantages of accessing education. They need to be made to understand that education offers them and their children a second chance of gaining a stable life.

2) Advocate for refugee education

Make the troubles of refugees in accessing education known to the government. Advocate for equal educational opportunities for both citizens and refugees. The government needs to understand that refugees also require higher education like others. They also require to get burseries and H.E.l.B loans like the normal Kenyan citizens.

3) Take action and offer a helping shoulder

Take the initiative to start groups that will support refugee education. Starting with just little funds from the group, you can be able to support afew children to get access to education. Help them where you can. Create donations to Non Governmental Organizations that support refugees to get education. With the little you have, you can make a big difference in the life of a refugee.
