Farmers in my country get peanuts from their toils and sweat. This is partly due to the availability of middlemen, selling raw materials instead of finished goods and having less quantities to be sold to the market. This hinders their productivity and general incomes thus also affecting the welfare of their families. At Butumwa, we have developed a system of having a singular solution for all these challenges. We formed a farmers' Cooperative society that has eliminated the middleman and increased the amount of produce we take to the market giving us access to companies and bigger consumers. Starting with coffee, we have managed to add value on it by processing it and packing it in grams of 100, 250 and 500 grams. with these solution our members now have easier access to trainings, access to credit facilities, finance management, sell directly to consumers and proper cash flows.
