Food Fortification Against Malnutrition

About Solution

Broad AgroFoods is a Social Enterprise Producing African High Quality & Affordable Processed Foods Targeted Against Malnutrition and Hunger in Nigeria by partnering with farmers to process organic produce.

Good nutrition is widely recognized to be an essential element in the ability to lead a healthy and productive life. Yet poor nutrition remains a critical global problem: Each year, more children die as a result of under-nutrition than of AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. The effects of malnutrition are devastating and far reaching. It not only causes loss of life, but also weakens immune systems and increases risk of disease. It lowers the success rate in education and employment, ultimately leading to the loss of productivity and well-being of communities and nations. It is both a result and driver of poverty and inequality.

Food fortification increases the content of essential vitamins and minerals in food, so as to improve the nutritional quality of the food supply and fight micro-nutrient deficiencies among the poorest. Broad Agrofoods   fortifies major foods crops such Yam, Corn, plantain, Sorghum, Beans and rice and process them into flour for consumption.

Broad AgroFoods is addressing this challenge by providing a service where livelihoods of local farmers are improved and Nigerians can get quality and affordable foods to fight malnutrition in children and process African food for global acceptance and consumption without loosing it’s natural nutrients.

We have been able to partner with network of farmers in south west Nigeria to access the freshest organic items and process them hygienically and sell them at an affordable price to our customers.

We’ve spent the past few years building a business and service that we love. A service that has provided more employment to several unemployed women and has provided free nutritious meals to children in orphanages and charity homes.
