UNESCO declares that to empower people, change the way they think and work towards a sustainable future must be a goal of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). ESD “requires participatory teaching and learning methods that motivate and empower learners to change their behaviors and take action for sustainable development”. Considering these challenges, our solution is the "Interescolar Ambiental". This is a network of climate change actions carried out by schools. We've developed an app and a web-based service that brings people closer to climate action. We achieve this by providing teachers in schools a diverse portfolio of activities for them to perform at their school. Each activity is explained with a brief video and engaging teaching material for teachers. The objective of the activities is to help build quality environmental education and to not only help raise awareness but also to develop self-esteem, citizenship, to build healthy lifestyle habits and help mend social relationships in school communities. In 2019 we reached 1,128 schools that took action based on our activities, these schools not only carried out environmental actions, but they shared their experiences by using our platforms. This project, through digital platforms, seeks to give autonomy to educational communities to empower them with respect to ESD, environmental action, school motivation and improve coexistence among community members. We aim to transform the way to involve the ESD within school communities, through digital and educational tools, to work on environmental education and school environment.
