There's a plant that overgrows in North Carolina called Kudzu. Of course, any local plant that does the same should be better. Make a hybrid of that plant with a food source. Grafting will also work. Kudzu is a vine (The Kudzu plant WILL kill other plant life. Keep it contained.) so it will take anything that normally grows on a vine, like grapes, or melons.
