The main aim of law and justice isn’t really punishing the guilty, but rather understanding social distresses, mis-communications, mis-education and mis-leadership, and sharing a better appreciation for learning and progressing together: The incidents in our life, the people around us and the atmosphere around us shapes a lot of who we are. People who are deemed guilty by the society are mostly those that themselves have had distressful incidents or periods in life. Some others are those that may have been mis-informed, mislead or not well communicated with. Education should be able to empower learning together, help everyone find at least one thing that they are passionate about and would joyfully contribute to the society, and discover opportunities. The idea of bringing people together in and excitement for learning is more important than anything else. Law and justice are the guidelines to bring people together, help us understand each other and appreciate each other’s perspectives. Should the guilty be given second chance? How about a third, or fourth? How is it possible to define how many chances a person is worth? But we can communicate better with everyone, educate each other
Prison College programs are helping empower the people to understand and appreciate the society and explore one’s fascinations. I was really inspired when I came to learn about Frank Abagnale's talk on google: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsMydMDi3rI&t=7s . He a great leader now, an important member of the american security who investigates forgeries and cyber security breaches. But when talking about his past about as "con man, check forger and imposter", he says how he was traumatized by his parents' divorce and left his home when he was young never to return. Then, a young boy with no guardian he cashed fake checks to find money when he did not get a job, leading to bigger forgeries. But after he served his time, he was given a chance to work with the security agency, and now he is an inspiring leader. How can we better understand the distresses of mislead people who go on to make mistakes? Do they deserve chances? How can we help everybody appreciate each other and learning together? I believe the biggest challenge and at the same time the biggest opportunity that we have today is appreciating learning together. With the rise of “learning together” centered education, maybe we can push our laws to empower motivation and inspirations. Prison universities are already out there and are helping improve lives, better lead those that have made mistakes and give people chances, and bring everybody together into fascination for learning together. Maybe the next level would be to organize bootcamps and other camps that are similar to various reality shows. Whatever opportunity it is we do not want people to stop learning. Especially those that have been distressed, unfortunate, under privileged or mis-understood. Everybody deserves opportunities to learn. And it is only from the opportunities to learn new, understand and appreciate each other's ideas and embrace the excitement of learning together; that we can empower each other and create opportunities to innovate and progress. With the philosophy of excitement for learning let's create opportunities to get everybody excited to learn!
