One global change I would like to see happen is “food security.” To achieve this, I am willing to align with the Sustainability Development Goal 2 (SDG 2) which aims to end hunger, ensure food security and improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture, by 2030. Adopting this policy as an entrepreneur in the aspect of agribusiness got me motivated seeing the business as an avenue to making much impact in the aspect of livestock production, and possibly extend to its' other aspects later and make agriculture a food basket of the globe!
Also, it is on record that sixty-six (66) million primary school age children attend classes hungry across the developing world, with an alarming twenty-three (23) million in Africa alone! (www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/hunger), hence, this innovation addresses the problem of hunger due to joblessness, which is now resulting to several conflicts that has eaten deep into the day-to-day believe and running of the people. So, if the challenge of food insecurity could be eradicated now, it will bring back peace into the living styles of the people; contribute to stabilizing the nations’ economy in a way; and bring about development to the affected community (or communities). Hence I look forward to being part of the team that will achieve this feat.
The problem of hunger, joblessness, conflicts and economic imbalance impact a whole lot of people, especially in the developing countries and with much emphasis to the African countries among which are Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, etc. But for the purpose of this application, we shall be focusing majorly on Nigeria being the country we are currently working in, and possibly Ghana as our next target country, because the year 2018 Global Hunger Index (GHI) results rated Ghana at No. 62, before Nigeria at No. 103, in order of GHI (www.globalhungerindex.org/results/)
This business has helped in her capacity to reduce poverty due to joblessness as it currently haboours nothing less than twenty-five workers (casual and permanent). Also, our fish production is currently assisting the Government's Home Grown Program as we currently supply about three local government primary schools with fishes processed.
