As we know that availability of conventional energy like oil, gas, and coal has declined with 3% per year in decline rate. Indonesia government has proposed energy diversification program to search alternative energy that can be used but it’s only 3.3% of its potential has optimized. So we try to find another natural resources that can be utilized into bioenergy regarding the complex need of this era. This condition also causes the industrial growth which is increasing rapidly such as palm oil industry.
Palm oil is one of the world’s most produced and consumed oils. But palm oil production has a negative impact for the quality of soil, water, and the air because of the production waste such a Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). As one of the world’s largest producers and exporter of palm oil, Indonesia contributes on POME enhancement in large quantities. A ton of palm oil can produce 5.5-7.5 ton of POME. When POME decomposes in the absence of oxygen, it can form biogas naturally. This gas is typically composed of 50-75% CH4 and 25-45% CO2 so potentially hazardous contribute to global climate change. In addition, POME has a high organic substance so it can contaminate the river and affect aquatic ecosystem.

Here Ailesh Power propose Biohydrogen utilized from POME in order to help on diversifying energy of tomorrow by optimizing industrial waste. Biohydrogen is chose because of its characteristics such as environmentally friendly, low energy used, renewable and sustainable source. This energy generates a higher energy yield (122kJ/g) by 2.75 times than hydrocarbon fuel when this gas was combusted.
